In the midst of the political winds swirling around the Charleston shooting and the Confederate flag in South Carolina, mega-chain Walmart has announced it will cease selling Confederate flag merchandise.

Walmart made the statement in response to an inquiry by CNN, who put the question of Confederate flag merchandise to the store as well as to online retailers Amazon and eBay.

As of Monday night, there was plenty of Confederate flag merchandise listed on Walmart's website, though many items are "out of stock."

A search for "Confederate flag" on Amazon brings up almost 30,000 items. Neither Amazon nor eBay replied to CNN's request.
