Weblin, if you recall, is an avatar service that lets you chat with others as you surf the web. Through Weblin's downloadable application, you can create an avatar, give it a name, and begin surfing the web. When you come across a site that has other Weblin members present, you'll see their avatars walking around the bottom of your browser screen, chatting with each other.
As fun as this service sounds, I had a bit of trouble getting it to work when I reviewed Weblin last year. Having had a number of months to evolve its product, Weblin now has a lite version that requires no download.
So what does it do? Weblin lite asks you to enter the URL of the page you'd like to visit, and you'll then be redirected to a Weblin-enabled version of that site, complete with Weblin users. You'll have a randomly assigned avatar through which you can chat, and that's pretty much it. Right-click your mouse on your avatar, and you'll be able to chat, dance, laugh, and do many of the things you'd do if you were having a conversation with a group of people in real life.
