WebMD Launches Personalized Pregnancy App

Cataloging your baby's firsts is just as important in utero. WebMD, the health information (and self-diagnosis go-to) site, launched WebMD Pregnancy, a free iPhone app to help expectant mothers keep track of their journey.

The app offers physician-reviewed pregnancy information and customizable features that change week by week for each user based on her due date. Interactive, personalized tools include symptom trackers, appointment reminders, a shareable "Baby Belly Slideshow" and a contraction timer.

WebMD Pregnancy combines medically-focused articles with contextually relevant tools. It's a blend that's been missing from the bevy of pregnancy apps already out there, says Todd Zander, the company's vice president of mobile and emerging media.

According to WebMD's pregnancy survey, one-third of women who are or have been pregnant in the last two years use an app to gather related information. More than half of these women spend over an hour a week getting or sharing pregnancy facts.

The custom tools create unique experiences for each user, Zander tells Mashable, and gives them direct access to extra related content.

WebMD Pregnancy follows the release of the WebMD Baby app from 2012, which creates a similar baby book for your child with trackable stats.
