Webwag, the web-based startpage, is announcing a new feature on Monday: the Widget On Demand (WOD) allows you to create a module for your startpage from any site, regardless of whether the site provides an RSS feed.

You just enter the URL of the site you want to track, highlight the area of the page you want to monitor and your widget is created automatically. It's incredibly easy to use, but whether it can handle complex procedures remains to be seen. There are already a number of services to convert static webpages into feeds (eg. Feed43), but most are fairly complex.

Webwag's rivals include Netvibes, Pageflakes and Protopage.
