We haven't heard from WeFi in quite some time, but the service that launched nearly a year ago as a social look at wi-fi friends and finds you the fastest, open network around, is going mobile with support for Windows Mobile operating systems. As WeFi is a downloadable application, working seamlessly with browsers and mobile operating systems is key to WeFi's adoption rate and usability factors.

When I tested WeFi out last Spring, I found that there were a few problems with one of Microsoft's other tools: Internet Explorer. It looks like WeFi has addressed its existing issues and has taken things to the next level in order to make its service available for mobile phones. This has a two-fold benefit: you can see where your mobile browsing will be able to connect in the fastest manner, and you'll also be able to see where your computer can connect, without having to take it out the bag.

I know there are a lot of services out there that do the same thing, but WeFi's claim to fame has always been the social aspect of its service. You may recall that a downloaded WeFi application looks much like a buddy list that you use in conjunction with a map, displaying all the places where you can connect, and the places where your friends are currently located. WeFi is a bit late to the mobile game, even in regards to its socialization tools.
