A little friendly Twitter marketing got real when Wendy's decided to take a medium-rare beef with Burger King make it well done.

It started innocently enough with Wendy's promoting its "4 for $4" meal.

Burger King's social media team took notice. The chain has been promoting its own value deal, which offers one additional item -- a chocolate chip cookie.

Burger King may have sweetened the deal for consumers, but it clearly soured any relationship with Wendy's.

Wendy, who didn't seem particularly keen to start sh*t, then decided to end it -- thanks to a little prodding.
