Lonely Planet Launches iPhone App for Soliciting Friends' Reviews in Real-Time

Travel guide publisher Lonely Planet introduced a handy iOS app Monday that allows you to access reviews and recommendations from a number of well-known travel publishers, as well as your friends, in real-time.

You can use Wenzani to tap into the recommendations of publications such as Time Out New York, prominent individuals including Lonely Planet U.S. travel editor Robert Reid, and your friends on Facebook and Twitter. Reviews are sorted by category, allowing you to pull up restaurants, shops and live act venues arranged on a map or list. Best of all, you can use the app to ask for recommendations in real time from other users (e.g., “Where's a great lunch spot near Gramercy?”), as well as your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

In the future, you'll be able to filter recommendations to accommodate the weather and time of day.
