LOS ANGELES -- When you can get Werner Herzog to narrate your indie film trailer, you definitely go with that.

When you can't, well ... we haff waze of making you talk.

Mashable is pleased to debut the new trailer for Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, which comes with a twist: It's narrated by the German writer/director/producer/author/actor/Chuck Norris-level badass.

Okay, so it's not really Herzog: It's protagonist Greg Gaines (played by Thomas Mann), who obsesses over Herzog and writes his college essay in his voice. The film centers on Greg, a teenage filmmaker who befriends a girl dying of cancer. With the help of his "co-worker" Earl, Greg also makes parodies of film classics -- so naturally, they idolize Herzog.

Fox Searchlight has had Me and Earl in limited release since June 12, and is slowly expanding the critical darling nationwide.
