WhatsApp Adds Voice Messaging

Messaging app WhatsApp started rolling out voice messaging to its app on Wednesday.

Similar to voice messaging using Facebook Messenger, the new feature allows you to record a short audio clip and send it to a friend. To send a message, simply press on the record button. Once the button is released, the message is on its way.

When the recipient listens to your voice message, a blue microphone beside the recording in your conversation will light up, letting you know your message has been received. Messages don't have a time limit, and fumbled messages can be deleted instantly with a simple swipe across the message onscreen.

WhatsApp currently boasts more than 300 million active users each month who exchange close to 31 billion messages and 325 million photos each day.

The new voice messaging feature will be available to WhatsApp users on all platforms: iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Nokia.
