At approximately 4 a.m. PST on Sunday, Sony Music raised the wholesale price, which pushed the UK version on iTunes from £4.99 to £7.99, according to the Guardian.

The price, however, was soon changed back to £4.99. For comparison, the current price for the album in the Australian version of iTunes is 16.99 AUD.

"I see iTunes is cashing in on Whitney Houston's death by putting the price of her ultimate collection album up to £7.99 from £4.99," said one tweet. Digital Spy, which first reported the price hike, cited another customer as saying: "To say I am angry is an understatement and I feel it is just a case of iTunes cashing in on the singer's death, which in my opinion is totally parasitic."

Sony did not officially comment on the story, but the Guardian cites an unnamed source who claims that the wholesale price for the "Ultimate Collection" album was wrong, and Sony merely fixed it.

Despite the price rollercoaster, the album is currently topping the UK album chart on iTunes.
