The 'Why? With Hannibal Buress' promos that NBC didn't want you to see

LOS ANGELES -- Was it all the murder talk?

We may never know exactly why NBC chose to pull these promos for Why? With Hannibal Buress, which were set to run in Los Angeles and Chicago during an airing of Hannibal.

Having some fun with the name he shares with the serial-killer show, Buress repeatedly says in separate promos (above and below) that his series, which premieres Wednesday on Comedy Central, has "way less murder" than the NBC drama that was recently cancelled.

The spots were approved by local affiliates, but sources close to the situation tell Mashable that the network pulled the plug. Buress talked about the banned promos on Conan, but you're seeing them on Mashable for the first time.

NBC did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
