Widgipedia has been around since late last year, providing a gallery of desktop widgets for Yahoo Widgets, Kapsules, the Mac Dashboard, KlipFolio, Desktop X and lots of other platforms. The site is nicely designed, with ajax to save on pageloads, user ratings, favorites, RSS feeds for every platform and publisher, and the ability to upload widgets for inclusion. Other features include lists of the top-rated, most popular and highest rated widgets (we've seen this feature everywhere since YouTube popularized it), plus a forum, developer resources and the ability to post any page to Digg, del.icio.us and Blinklist. In fact, only one thing stopped it from being comparable to Widgetbox, Musestorm, Spring Widgets and other widget galleries: the lack of Flash widgets to post on websites.

A few hours ago, Widgipedia fixed that by launching a new version of the site with support for web widgets built in Flash, DHTML and Java. That means bloggers, website owners, eBay users and social networkers on MySpace, Piczo, hi5, Xanga and other popular sites will have another place to look for new blog bling. Developers can upload widgets and even set parameters for user customization - colors, sizes etc. Admittedly, they don't have many web widgets listed right now (uh...one!), but the site only just went live, so they'll need time to build up a good number of them.
