If you grew up in America, you almost definitely had a Wiffle ball, and its trusty yellow bat sidekick. So logically, you'd think that the Wiffle headquarters would be as massive as the audience it serves, right?

Not so much.

Despite the company's level of name-brand celebrity, Wiffle still looks very much like a startup, with only a handful of machines working inside a warehouse that feels like a glorified three-car garage.

And that's just the way they like it.

Brothers Steve and Dave Mullany are the third generation in their family to run the Wiffle company and they strive to manage the backyard-game empire in the same way their father and grandfather did. These guys are extremely humble about their level of success -- attributing most of it to their family members who have come before them -- and they're alarmingly chill about the fact that almost every American family owns their product.

The brothers Mullany say they've embraced new technologies since the company started in the '50s, but otherwise, little has changed. As Dave says, "I think our approach to the way we treat business and the way we treat people hasn't changed that much."

Essentially, they've adopted the ultimate "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy, and it's working pretty well so far.
