LONDON -- Did the chairman of the Conservative Party edit his own Wikipedia page to make himself sound better? Administrators for the online encyclopedia claim he or someone close to him did.

On Tuesday evening, The Guardian reported that Chairman Grant Shapps -- or someone "under his clear direction" -- edited his own page favourably and pages of other, rival politicians in an "unflattering" manner using an account with the username Contribsx. The politician has denied the claims, calling them a "Labour/Guardian smear campaign." Shapps is now considering filing a complaint against the publication, the BBC reports.

However, the story isn't going away. By Wednesday morning, the Internet had its own go at editing Shapps using the hashtag #WikiShappsFacts.
