WildVoice is a new podcast-sharing service that's currently in public beta. But despite the bold design, it's an unimpressive offering.

As a Wildvoice user, you own have your own "site" - essentially a set of customizable pages and channels. You can add information about yourself using the rich-text editor and select channels and skins for your podcast player. You can also write a journal, add friends and create a MySpace/hi5/Tagworld widget that plays your favorite shows. Users can record podcasts, too - this is done through the downloadable "WildVoice Studio" client (Windows only) or using the new web-based recorder, which they rolled out this morning. I've tried using the web version numerous times today, and it appears to just crash the browser. In fact, Firefox crashed multiple times while browsing the site - it's rare that betas are this unstable. I advise against using WildVoice until they fix this problem.

On the social side, you can browse the profile pages and leave comments for other users. You can also subscribe to channels via RSS and explore members and shows using the tagcloud.

Despite claiming to be "fun and easy", Wildvoice is anything but. And even without the technical glitches, the offering doesn't really stack up against social podcast directories like PodShow Plus. I'd give it a miss.
