'Tis the season of giving, but let's face it: Christmas gifts aren't always a home run. It may be the thought that counts, but there's nothing worse than unwrapping a present from your Aunt Ethel only to find a horrendous reindeer sweater -- complete with light-up red nose.
WishBooklet aims to solve that problem by enabling users to crowdfund gifts. Simply sign up, create a virtual wish list, and share it with friends and family.
People can contribute money for big-ticket items, or just get a better idea of what you'd actually like to see under the tree this year -- or really, any time of the year. Users can crowdfund birthday presents and anniversary gifts on WishBooklet, and the site also works as a baby-shower registry.
"The concept of crowdfunding is by no means new as people have been using this for years to fund business and charitable dreams. While those are very good things, what if you just want a really nice pair of shoes or a birthday gift that you really wanted?" Eric Santos, WishBooklet's co-founder, tells Mashable.
"This way you get what you really want and nobody has to pay a ton of money to get it for yo," he adds.
