If your New Year's Resolution is to start blogging, then Word Count Journal wants to help out. The newly-launched blogging platform lets you post one word on the first day, two words on the second day and so on, meaning that you'll have written 66,795 words over the course of the year.

You can start with more than one word if you like, and you don't have to stick to the limit - if you go over it, however, the word counter goes red to warn you. What's more, you can set your own time period, from a few days to months or years. The feature set, meanwhile, is pretty basic: you can create a profile, create multiple journals, add pictures, accept comments and make journals public or private. There are RSS feeds, too. In the near future, they plan to add private sharing between groups and families.

Word Count Journal may turn out to be a gimmick of sorts, but it's an interesting gimmick nonetheless. If you do want to start blogging seriously this year, Mashable recommends Vox or Wordpress. We're not so crazy about Blogger.com, but let us know your experiences and recommendations in the comments.
