WordPress, one of the more prominent blog platforms out there, have just made upgrades to their RSS functionality, with a number of widgets that one could only previously find by filtering their feed through a third party service like Feedburner.

The new widgets include comment counts, categories, tags, and functionality to add an RSS entry to Del.icio.us, Digg, and StumbleUpon.

The new widgets can be easily turned on under the "Reading Options" page, and though they add the functionality that works as the Feedburner widgets do, they do look slightly less polished than the same functionality in Feedburner (perhaps the next version will include some anti-aliasing).

Still, if you're paranoid about Google knowing exactly how many subscribers you have on your feed, this is likely a welcome upgrade.
