We haven't heard much from WorkLight since its public launch last year, but the company that bridges the gap between enterprise solutions and existing social media tools like Facebook and Netvibes has raised a $12 million series B round of funding, led by Pitango Venture Capital, a VC firm in Israel. Existing backers Genesis Partners, Index Ventures, and Shlomo Kramer have also contributed to this latest round of funding.

As services like Facebook open their platforms for integrated applications to access users for a number of purposes, and Netvibes hopes to become increasingly social with new initiatives like Ginger, WorkLight is hoping to capitalize on this forward movement in its provision of secure access to business tools and data through these existing social media services.

By adding in practical implementations of web 2.0 technology, such as desktop widgets, gadgets, social bookmarking and RSS feeds, WorkLight has been looking to push the business sector towards this type of openly sharable environment for about two years now.
