12 Google Doodle GIFs Adorably Celebrating the World Cup

As is customary in historic moments, the team behind the Google doodles have been busy during the World Cup.

Google rang in the tournament with one doodle, but animated images have been popping up on the Google homepage throughout the tournament.

Before almost every match, the doodlers have added a new animation above the search bar. On Sunday, for Father's Day, Google kept the same special doodle during all the matches: a father "O" and his child "o" sharing a soccer-themed stroll.

On Google's official World Cup doodle blog, the team has been posting updates about the global reach and design process of each doodle. The animation during the Uruguay and Costa Rica match on Saturday was particularly interactive. It changed after each goal scored, showing an increasingly frustrated coach and a divided crowd joyously reacting to each goal their team scored.

We've compiled some of the best Doodles of the tournament thus far, in GIF form, for your repeated viewing pleasure.
