Fox staged some major counter programming on Sunday, releasing footage from the season finale of the X-Files miniseries during the Super Bowl halftime show.

If you were busy watching Beyonce and Coldplay jam, don't worry: We got you covered.

The footage begins with Scully essentially recapping the series, from the beginning of her partnership with Mulder to her cancer scare to her pregnancy. It's not unlike how the miniseries itself opened, with Mulder telling their story.

This time, though, Scully also includes a recap of the miniseries itself, speaking about "a conspiracy of men hiding science for almost 60 years, secrets kept from the American people by a self-interested cabal intent on a consolidation of power both at home and on a predominantly global scale."

She acknowledges that their "motives and their final objectives" are unknown, as is "when and where these men might play out their dark plans."

She also speaks about the season-opening DNA test we saw her get, in which the results presented "DNA anomalies that i can only classify as alien."

Then comes the kicker: this image.

The footage was taken down shortly after the halftime show concluded; it was billed as a halftime exclusive.

But chances are Fox will release more footage closer to the finale. Also, the Internet probably has you covered.
