Microsoft's Xbox division is diving into original television programming for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 gaming consoles with six committed projects and six more in development, the company announced Monday morning.

The content, some of which has already been revealed over the last year, will span span subjects that gamers care about, according to Xbox Entertainment Studios Head Nancy Tellum via Xbox Wire.

These projects include two different takes on the Halo franchise: one by director Steven Spielberg that was announced last May, and a feature film produced by Ridley Scott.

Other content includes a stop-motion show by the creators of Robot Chicken and a half-hour comedy show produced by Seth Green and JASH -- a comedy collective founded by Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Tim and Eric and Reggie Watts, and Gun Machine, a hardboiled detective story based on a novel by Warren Ellis.

Other shows include sci-fi series Humans and a documentary on the missing Atari cartridges that were just unearthed in a New Mexico landfill.

Xbox Entertainment Studios could also be exploring different game franchises as sources for television shows, according to Joystiq, including Gears of War, Age of Empires, Forza Motorsport and Fable.
