Xiaomi's Mi Note is an impressive Android smartphone. Its premium metal and glass design, and lightweight user interface earned it a Mashable Choice award, but it is the awesome age and gender guessing feature that has us coming back for more.

As I wrote in my review:

There's a cute feature that's sure to flatter the owner: When the camera's front-facing camera is on, the camera uses facial recognition to try to guess your age. It's pretty pointless, but fun to use when you use your front-camera for a pocket mirror (don't deny that you do it!).

Yes, it's still a pointless feature, but boy does it get a party going. Everyone I've shown the feature to in our offices has liked it, not for its accuracy, but for the fun factor.

The feature is all the more amusing when it guesses your age and gender incorrectly. For instance, while I was doing a recent Mashable Tech Tuesday Snapchat story, the Mi Note thought I was an 18-year-old female. Good times.

Different angles, lighting and faces all change the outcome. As the Internet quickly learned: Selfie angles matter. As Mashable's Watercooler editor Annie Colbert once said: Selfies are all about angle, angle, angle.

Xiaomi is often accused for blatantly copying Apple (and to some extent Samsung), but this one feature is pretty original and a great conversation starter. Goofiness makes the world go round, right?
