Xiaomi, the third-largest smartphone maker in the world, has finally come stateside.
But rather than selling smartphones, which are the company's bread and butter, Xiaomi opted instead to open an online store on Monday that sells accessories including headphones, external battery packs and a fitness/sleep tracker, all of which aren't up for grabs yet but are marked as "coming soon."
Prices start at $13.99 for an external battery, which Xiaomi says has enough juice to charge an iPhone 5S four-and-a-half times, and caps off at a pair of $79 headphones.
The move is in line with Xiaomi's announcement at a U.S. media event in February.
"We might try things in small volumes and see how it goes," Hugo Barra, Xiaomi's global vice president, told Mashable at the time.
The quiet launch is also a safe way for Xiaomi to enter the U.S. and learn about the market before inevitably rolling out cash cow devices like its 5.7-inch Mi Note, which initially sold out in China three minutes after going on sale.
This March, Mashable reviewed the Mi note and dubbed it the best "made in China" phone you've never heard of.
Well, now Xiaomi wants to make sure you've heard of them.
