Yahoo Acquires Aviate to Personalize Mobile Experience

Yahoo has acquired Aviate, which bills itself as an "Intelligent home screen service." Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Marissa Mayer, Yahoo's CEO, announced the acquisition at the 2014 International CES trade show in Las Vegas on Tuesday, noting that Aviate will help provide "contextual clues bringing you what you need when you need it."

Aviate launched in beta for Android late last year and promised to switch up the apps and buttons that appear on the phone's homescreen based on the time of day and the user's location.

"Like Yahoo, Aviate is focused on daily habits," Mayer said at the conference. "We are incredibly excited to work with the Aviate team and welcome them to Yahoo."

Aviate acknowledged the deal with the following tweet:

Aviate just got better, faster by joining @Yahoo! http://t.co/ZM67IFfX0s Keep on flying!
