The Web giant has announced the launch of a new website, dubbed Yahoo! Real Estate, which, if one cannot divine is purpose from its title, is where big-name realtors and independent, for-sale-by-owner types alike can go to display their A-frames and McMansions to be considered as new homes for those with better credit and way less debt than their previous occupants.

Okay, that last comment was uncalled for. A touch harsh, in hindsight.

Do understand that we’re not making light of the catastrophe that has befallen the housing business in the US. We recognize full well how the looseness of the financial sector’s greedy hounds has contributed massively to the detriment of homeowners new and old. We’re only looking to convey to you the message that, if you so happen to want to unload or picking up some urban, suburban, or rural acreage, Yahoo! Real Estate is yet another option in a fast-growing online market that you may use as a means to an end – or a beginning.

Several well-known brokerages have joined the fold at Yahoo! Real Estate so far. The site debuted with Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, Realogy Corp (Century 21 and Coldwell Banker live under their roof), GMAC Real Estate and Weichert Realtors as prominent members, according to a report released by the Associated Press.
