Yahoo! oneSearch will now be the search engine partner for powering Telefonica's local subsidiaries' mobile search. The deal also entails Telefonica's integration of Flickr and Yahoo Mail into its mobile Internet offerings. Telefonica's mobile portals in 15 countries, including hose in Europe and Latin America, will now have search powered by Yahoo, and access to Yahoo Mail and Flickr.
Yahoo's oneSearch is designed for mobile use, offering optimization that minimizes users' navigation of links to websites. Included in Yahoo oneSearch is news, finance, weather, Flickr photos, web images, and mobile sites. The mobile integration of Flickr extends photo viewing and sharing options, and leave comments on photos as well. This should be a good advertising channel for generating revenue, and this is the hope for both Yahoo and Telefonica.
