Interestingly enough, however, today also happens to be the start of a major free Wi-Fi campaign from Yahoo, who has partnered with the Times Square Alliance to offer visitors and locals alike free Wi-Fi in Times Square, New York.
The Wi-Fi from Yahoo promotion, which you can use from your laptop or mobile device, kicked off this morning at 8am EST and will continue throughout all of 2010.
We think the promotion is a smart play by the company, which hopes to see the 500,000 daily visitors to the Time Square area use their internet-enabled devices to not only access the web, but to use Yahoo as their starting point for browsing. The company has even created a specialized start page with news and content tailored to Times Square denizens.
