Isn't it just like bears to ignore the hopes and desires of national park visitors who have paid thousands of dollars to come to see them?

While some may say that bears are autonomous animals oblivious to their role in entertaining humans, at least one tourist disagrees. A Redditor shared a photo of a comment card for the Yellowstone National Park Lodges, on which the tourist explained how disappointed they were.

"Our visit was wonderful but we never saw any bears," the visitor wrote. "Please train your bears to be where guests can see them."

While the comment -- hopefully meant as a joke? -- is hilarious, it's true that bear sightings at Yellowstone have declined in recent years.

"Bears were once commonly observed along roadsides and within developed areas of Yellowstone National Park," the NPS writes. "Bears were attracted to these areas by the availability of human foods in the form of handouts and unsecured camp groceries and garbage."

A bear management program started in 1970 reduced access to human food and trash, however, decreasing the number of sightings -- in other words, fewer bear sightings by tourists is good for the bears.

If you're lucky enough to see a bear when you're in Yellowstone, remember that bear selfies are not advised.
