Yelp, a popular business review site that covers everything from food to entertainment to home repair services to real estate brokerages, with virtually all critiques coming straight from consumers' mouths, has launched a new suite of tools for local business owners, called, appropriately enough, Yelp for Business Owners. The new section of the website is free to use, and will purportedly help those on the side of the cash register to better manage their public relations efforts on the site. Yelp certainly considers this a good addition to its list of functions, namely to facilitate closer interaction between sellers and buyers.
This addition logically also comes at a moment in which entrepreneurs are learning the word-of-mouth power attached to the reviews posted on their respective operations. More and more often they have requested of Yelp a system in which they can more easily connect with reviewers in the event that they do express. Now they may do so.
