Popular local reviews service Yelp has launched its first non-English version: French, which debuted this afternoon in France. The French version is available at Yelp.fr, though the service will also let users in other Yelp cities flip the service from English to French if they so choose.
Yelp currently sees more than 25 million unique visitors per month, though the bulk of that traffic comes from the US. The site does now have versions in the UK and Ireland, which it says are currently seeing better than one million unique visitors monthly in total.
International expansion is clearly a huge opportunity for the company to grow, and with a fresh $25 million in funding (that may add up to $100 million in total), we expect to see more countries and languages launch in short order.
