Shortly after footage surfaced of a knife attack in London, a hashtag inspired by a bystander's comment has united Twitter against extremists who claim they're acting in the name of Islam.

London police say they're investigating the Saturday night attack in the Leytonstone Tube station as a "terrorist incident" after witnesses said they heard the masked suspect shout "This is for Syria" before stabbing another man in the neck.

In a harrowing clip posted to Twitter, a bystander is heard shouting "You ain't no Muslim, bruv!" as police subdue the attacker.

Following the incident, #YouAintNoMuslimBruv began trending in the United Kingdom and the United States. The hashtag is being used to condemn extremists, support the millions of Muslims who don't want their religion used as an excuse for terrorism, and praise the London police for their quick response.
