The first stores to legally sell pot in Washington state opened their doors on Tuesday, drawing long lines. Officials issued 24 retail licenses to sell marijuana, making it the second state after Colorado to allow recreational marijuana to be bought more or less freely.

People began lining up before 8 a.m. at Bellingham's Top Shelf Cannabis, one of two stores in the city north of Seattle that started selling pot.
