It's an interesting phenomenon, and it perhaps sheds some light on yet another aspect of Twitter's popularity. Undoubtedly, jury members are aware that they cannot discuss the trial in any way, and yet some of them do think that tweeting about is ok. Why?

One thing that's so cool about Twitter is that it feels like private communication. It's so similar to sending an SMS or an IM message, and so easy to update, that people tend to go to Twitter the second they've got something to say; just like you would whisper fresh gossip into your best friend's ear.
