YouTube, the hottest property in the video-sharing space, has been down since last night. Apart from a graphic on the homepage, there's no word on what the problem might be, but YouTube's phenomenal growth is surely a factor - it's amazing that they're lasted this long without any major outages. Compare that to MySpace, which suffers frequent outages (see MySpace Down) and endless technical glitches. The message reads "OK. We admit it. We’re fixing stuff, but we’ll be up soon."

Update: YouTube is back up, after around 6 hours of downtime. The outage is being blamed on a database failure, which is hardly surprising - YouTube serves 100 million videos per day. What's more, by some measures YouTube is the world's fastest growing website. Surely growing pains are to be expected?
