YouTube plans to launch a site focused on the quickly growing market of India early next year. According to reports, YouTube India will target both professional content producers of movies and TV shows along with amateurs looking to gain exposure for their work. YouTube also plans to develop a sales team in India to sell video advertising specific to the region.

Currently, India contributes just 1 percent of YouTube’s overall traffic. However, along with China it is one of the quickest growing regions in the world for Internet and broadband adoption.

Internationalization could be one of the major themes to look for in 2008, with MySpace set to launch a variety of new foreign language versions, while Facebook is rumored to be doing the same.
