The news has been hitting the Korean wires from multiple Asian news sources that YouTube Korea has just been launched. Back in June, we reported on rumors that such a site may be in the works:

The push to get a Korean YouTube out seems to be an aggressive move for Google, but an important one, nonetheless. This release would come on the heels of YouTube being launched in nine different countries, stressing its desire to have a global reach.

Asian analysts point to an uphill battle for the site, saying that Koreans have preferred and shown favoritism to local home-grown alternatives to American entrants to the market. We've seen this sort of thing before, when we covered Facebook and MySpace's alleged forays into China, where Tangos Chan, an Internet analyst in Beijing said, "There has been no successful foreign acquisition in China."
