There's much buzz today around the latest stats that suggest YouTube has outpaced MySpace. YouTube has a 3.9% share of daily global internet visits, compared to MySpace at 3.35%. That sounds pretty remarkable, until you realize this data is coming from Alexa - whose stats should always be taken with a pinch of salt. The Alexa stats, you'll remember, count Internet Explorer users who have the Alexa toolbar installed - there's some debate about whether those users are really representative.

However, that's not to say YouTube's stats aren't looking good - even the most trusted metrics show massive growth. YouTube is the world's fastest growing website, with 100 million YouTube videos being viewed per day. No one is denying that this is steep growth curve, but let's hold out for some more evidence before we declare YouTube's supremacy.

Update: As expected, all the other stat companies have come out to say the Alexa stats are highly inccurate - MySpace is still way ahead.
