Ian Shaefer, CEO of Deep Focus Marketing Agency was invited out to the YouTube Videocracy Event in New York City last night, and aside from hanging out with Tay Zonday, he blogged a number of platform improvements on deck for the video sharing giant. The topics covered seemed to go over a mix existing new features and plans for the future.

The old stuff they talked about? Active Sharing, exposition on 'user behavior,' the benefits of YouTube's channel features, and the ways that marketers (like the ones behind Be Kind, Rewind) use YouTube to promote their brands.

The news stuff coming up discussed seem to be potential game-changers, at least within the world of online video.  YouTube will be creating an Amazon like reccomendation system, which is a certainly useful feature for casual and heavy site viewers alike. More interestingly, though, were the new distribution platforms that YouTube is gearing up for.  You can already grab YouTube videos on a myriad of devices, but they're focusing on the livingroom experience and expanding the number of mobile devices YouTube can be seen on.

The two big potential gamechangers, though, are the upgraded video editing tools and the impending launch of advanced analytics tools.  This has the potential to if not obliviate certain other aspects of online video startups, at least outmode them quite a bit.  TubeMogul will still retain a great deal of usefulness simply because they are cross platform-able, but it will certainly cut into their market a bit if the analytics for free on YouTube trump the free or even premium TubeMogul stats programs.
