PASADENA, Calif. -- Zachary Quinto may not be coming back for NBC's Heroes: Reborn, but they've found another Zach from the network family to bring the franchise back.

NBC announced Friday former Chuck star Zachary Levi will lead the forthcoming 13-episode miniseries, which will premiere later this year.

Network chairman Bob Greenblatt declined to give details on Levi's character, but NBC and creator Tim Kring have said in recent months that Reborn will largely focus on new characters.

The exception to that, of course, is Jack Coleman's Noah, who signed on to the show back in June 2013.

So far, Coleman is the only alum whose signed on for the reboot. Over the summer, Quinto told Mashable that he was unlikely to appear on Reborn as he's moved on from the experience.

"The idea of going back to a character that's so archetypal and iconic is something I have a little bit of a hard time wrapping my mind around," Quinto said in June. "I wish them 100 percent the best and even if I can't be a part of it, I can't wait to watch it."

The casting marks Levi's return to NBC since starring on cult favorite series Chuck, which ran for five season.
