Update (May 2nd 2006): Zimbio plans to launch publicly tomorrow.

Zoozio, which looked for a while to be another lame ajax start page, has rebranded itself as Zimbio, and is currently testing its latest concept: user-generated portals. We're talking Squidoo, Jeteye and Boxxet, but with a richer experience. From the site:

Our network of public portals are designed to help people quickly get down the learning curve on any topic of interest by seeing what other people are reading, saying, and recommending about the topic. Public portals are interactive, dynamic websites that offer a range of features including group blogging, member photos, links to favorite websites, RSS headlines, tracking of search results, and discussion forums.

So is it any good? Well, the design and usability aspects are very impressive - it's a lot of fun to use. And letting your users build your service for you is obviously a smart move. But I think all these "user-generated portals" have failed to learn the del.icio.us lesson, and that could be to their detriment.
