In just one week, British YouTuber Zoella has sold 78,000 copies of her debut novel, Girl Online.
According to The Bookseller, her novel has had the biggest first week recorded by Nielsen BookScan since tracking began six years ago.
Zoella, whose real name is Zoe Sugg, runs a channel boasting more than 6.6 million subscribers. According to statsheep, she is the 51st most subscribed to channel on YouTube.
Her novel, the first in a series, is currently the No. 1 bestseller on Amazon and follows the story of a blogger who, upon moving to New York, falls in love with a musician.
On Twitter, Sugg expressed her gratitude for the great first week.
I’m legit blown away by this. I never in a million years thought that so many of you would pick up a copy of Girl Online. Almost wanna cry..— Zoë (@ZozeeBo) December 2, 2014
With the record-breaking first week for Girl Online, Sugg joins a relatively small, but hugely successful group of YouTuber's who double as authors. John Green, Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart have also received critical acclaim for their writing.
