Zooomr is doing something nice: they're giving free Pro accounts to bloggers. All you need to do is post a Zooomr image on your blog and add a link to the comments section of this post. It's a neat marketing move that's sure to earn them more fans in the blogosphere.

Zooomr has already garnered some good press from bloggers, but I'm not sure that it's really a great play. The site is aligning itself as the best alternative to Flickr, which caters to bloggers, early adopters and photography lovers. Flickr is a large site by anyone's standards, but the group it caters to is still a niche. So Zooomr is trying to carve out a niche within a niche: the group of Flickr users who are seeking a better alternative to Flickr. How big is that market? We've already seen how huge Photobucket is in comparison to Flickr - if you're going to target switchers, Photobucket's mainstream demographic seems more appealing. And yes, you could argue that Flickr users are easier to monetize than MySpacers, but I'm willing to bet that a Photobucket acquisition would be substantially larger than Flickr's.

PS. Yes, the title is tongue-in-cheek.
