'13 Reasons Why' Season 2 'feels like a different show'

If 13 Reasons Why Season 1 was about trauma and talking about it, Season 2 will be about recovery and fallout. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, cast members discussed taking the story to new places in Season 2 without revealing plot points that already have viewers nervous.

"We take off a few months after we finish Season 1," said actress Katherine Langford, who plays Hannah Baker. "This season particularly is a lot about recovery, looking at Jessica, looking at the people who were affected."

Her costar Dylan Minnette described 13 Reasons Why as an "emotional story," with Season 1 building to a heartbreaking climax and Season 2 naturally growing more emotional as it picks up where it left off.

"This season feels like a very different show," Langford added. "Not just because of content but also just because of the approaches and precautions that we've had to take. But yeah, we're looking after the story as best as we can and trying to make sure that we put everything into place so that the audience can have the best experience possible."

Season 1 stirred up a lot of controversy with mental health professionals and parent groups for explicit depictions of bullying, suicide, and rape. The final episode ended with one character in critical condition from a gunshot wound and another possibly planning a school shooting. That's the world this story will jump back into, and it still won't lose Hannah Baker.

"It's juicy," added actor Steven Silver of the Season 2 premiere. "Only because last season we had to introduce some people, get backstory, and this season we can hit the ground running."
