Pirelli calendars have made headlines annually since 1963 and this coming year is no exception.

The Italian multinational's calendars are known to feature scantily-clad models and OTT sexiness, but 2017 will see some of Hollywood's greatest actresses honoured.

A selection of choice behind the scenes images have just been released, featuring the likes of Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Penélope Cruz, Kate Winslet and Robin Wright.

The calendar will also feature Jessica Chasten, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlotte Rampling, Zhang Ziyi, Anastasia Ignatova, Helen Mirren, Rooney Mara, Lea Seydoux, Julianne More and more. We're exhausted just contemplating the collective talent of these women TBH.

2017's effort was shot by acclaimed photographer and Pirelli calendar alumni, Peter Lindbergh, who took the pictures in five locations, over two continents.

As Lindbergh told Vogue, the images are "a love song to the women I really know and really like, and there's no exception … Everyone in this calendar, at one point in my life, I wanted to marry, and I didn't have the balls to ask them!"

Addressing the calendar's shift from titillating to a touch more refined, the photographer made it clear his shots were a celebration of beauty, regardless of age, shape or background: "Beauty today is really twisted, for commercial reasons, so people think beautiful is what you see in advertising and in magazines -- all these retouched women."

"You have to be perfect, you have to be thin, you have to be young -- you have to be all this, and this is bullsh*t," he said.
