The 2018 iPhones could come in gold, blue, red, and even orange

A rainbow of colors to choose from would be nice.

We're expecting Apple to release three new iPhones this year, and a new report claims there will be more colors to choose from than usual.

Apple fan blog 9to5Mac is reporting that highly reputable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects several new colored options for the upcoming LCD iPhone and the OLED iPhones. If true, it would be the first expansion of color options since the iPhone 5C launched in 2013.

According to the report, the forthcoming affordable 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be available in grey, white, blue, red, and orange. The grey and white color options for the LCD iPhone are likely referring to space grey and silver. Ming-Chi Kuo is also expecting this entry-level model to start at $700. It will likely have Face ID but only have a single lens camera on the back.

It remains to be seen if the red color Kuo is predicting will be a Product (RED) variant, like the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are currently offered in.

This new report is also claiming that Apple will release the upgraded 5.8-inch iPhone and larger 6.5-inch iPhone in three colors: space grey, silver, and gold. So yes, that means we might actually see a consumer release of that gold iPhone X that the FCC posted a photo of back in April.

In addition to a new color for the higher-end iPhones, the larger 6.5-inch OLED model will carry a similar price to the current $999 iPhone X. Both of these models should have better specs as well.

New colors will increase the number of models Apple has to build and stock, but should also boost sales. Many customers personalize their respective iPhones with different color wraps, but new colors direct from Apple might eliminate the need for this.

Time will tell, but new colors for an iPhone would be exciting, although part of me is wondering where is the rose gold one.
