In 2014 the internet came together for Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money and awareness for ALS. Now, the challenge is to drop and give me 22.

The 22 Push-Up Challenge, which has risen to prominence at the tail end of this summer, turns the conversation toward the high rate of suicides among United States veterans.

The challenge itself is simple: A person records video of him or herself performing 22 push-ups and shares it online in hopes of raising awareness of veteran suicide prevention. 22Kill, the non-profit behind the viral challenge, supports organizations that provide programs and services for veterans and their families.

The campaign takes its name from a 2012 U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs study that estimated that 22 veterans take their own lives each day on average, though that number has since lowered to 20. The goal is to draw attention not only to the high number of veteran suicides, but to the mental health issues that affect the community as well.

Big names like John Krasinski, Chris Pratt, Anna Faris and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson jumped on the trend with videos of support for the veteran community and a challenge for fellow celebrities to do the same.
