Chemicals and time make the Twinkie grow stronger.

In a Maine teacher's long con, one unsealed Twinkie has officially remained untouched and perfectly intact for the past 40 years.

According to ABC News, George Stevens Academy's former Chemistry teacher Roger Bennatti began the experiment with a curious group of students during a class he taught in 1976.

When Bennatti left the school in 2005, he gave the holy Twinkie to Dean of Students Libby Rosemeier -- who, adorably, was in the chemistry class where Bennatti started the experiment.

Rosemeier has the Twinkie proudly displayed in a glass box in her office -- almost perfectly in tact.

Next time you realize your Twinkie stash has gone past the expiration date, don't worry – there is probably at least another forty years of sugary chemical goodness in it.
