LONDON -- For many people in Britain, Thursday, Aug. 18 is just like any other day.

For thousands of 17- and 18-year-olds across the country, though, it's the day they've been nervously waiting for all summer. The day they've been building up to for the last two years.

It's A-Level Results day, which is the day sixth-form and college students get their grades and find out which university they got in to.

Unsurprisingly, many see it as a pretty big deal.

The night before, panic was setting in.

Finally, the big day rolled round.

Celebrities were on hand to chip in with helpful advice.

Brands got in on the action.

No matter what results people got this morning, though, there was always something to be cheerful about.

And there's always hope for the future.
