What is it with nipples at the Super Bowl?

During Sunday's halftime show, Maroon 5's Adam Levine decided to take his shirt off for the crowd, because something was necessary to liven up the musical equivalent of a jar of mayonnaise.

The problem? The Super Bowl halftime show has a storied history -- with all the pearl clutching over Janet Jackson's nipple more than a decade ago. Justin Timberlake, who exposed Janet's nipple in 2004, returned to the Super Bowl last year and fans were quick to slam him. And now it's Levine's turn to feel the heat.

Maybe we should just bring back the Elvis impersonator magician from Super Bowl XXIII.
